Notre Dame des Laves

En 1977, lors d'une éruption du Piton de la Fournaise, la lave a encerclé l'église mais, de manière presque miraculeuse, n'a pas détruit le bâtiment. Ce phénomène a transformé l'église en un lieu de pèlerinage et en un témoignage de la force de la nature et de la foi.

The Sainte-Rose meteorite

The Sainte-Rose meteorite, discovered in 1983 by geologist Patrick Bachèlery in the massif of Piton de la Fournaise and more precisely at the bottom of the Rivière de l’Est, is a remarkable specimen of chondrite. This stony meteorite, rich in iron and weighing 430 grams, stands out as the only known meteorite in La Réunion. Its estimated age of 4.4 billion years ranks it among the oldest rocks available for scientific research.

La Marine

Le Gardien du Trésor, the first submerged artwork of the island, lies beneath the waves. On October 28, 2017, it was placed 150 meters from the shore and at a depth of 18 meters.

Hanging bridge

Conceived by the visionary Ferdinand Arnodin in the late 19th century, this bridge made history by becoming the longest suspension bridge in the world upon its inauguration in 1894.
